Join the silent Protest
People up and down the UK are swiftly and silently removing their assumed consent.
This page provides a simple but powerful tool: a Declaration of Non-Consent to Be Governed.
Governments assume that because most people stay silent when a new policy comes out, that their silence is their agreement. We believe that no government has the moral right to rule over anyone without their individual, informed consent. The current political system in the UK — like many others — claims legitimacy from “the consent of the governed.” But when 70–80% of the electorate do not vote for the people who claim authority over them, that consent cannot be assumed.
This project gives you a peaceful, personal way to say:
“I do not consent. I do not recognise your authority to rule me without my permission.”
You're not signing up for a movement. You're not breaking the law. You're simply exercising a basic human right: the right to withdraw your consent.
Why It Matters
Governments survive not because they are voted in — but because people continue to go along with them. When enough people openly say no, everything changes. The illusion of legitimacy breaks. Power has no place to hide.
This declaration is a tool of peaceful resistance — grounded in conscience, reason, and dignity. Whether you include your name, your address, or even your National Insurance number is up to you. What matters is the message:
We are not subjects. We are free people.
Copy the letter below, then use it to write to your MP, Prime Minister and Councillorr. Send it signed for and keep a copy of the receipt. If you want to send us the copy of the receipt, (please blank out any identifying details) email it to tsp@thepeoplesaidno.comWe keep the copies so we can see how many people are doing this. Then when governments say your silence is consent, we can then prove that many people are not silent or consenting.

Subject: Formal Withdrawal of Consent to Be Governed
Dear Sir/Madam, It has come to my notice that my silence is deemed as consent to be governed, therefore, I, [Your Name], residing at [Your Address], hereby formally and peacefully withdraw my consent to be governed under the current political system of the United Kingdom.
I understand that modern government claims legitimacy from the “consent of the governed.” I am notifying you that I do not give that consent — not to this government, not to any previous ones I did not personally elect, and not to the unelected institutions that continue to operate in my name.
I do not recognize your authority to: - Legislate on my behalf - Tax me without my voluntary agreement - Restrict my liberties without my individual, informed, and explicit consent This is not an act of hostility, but of conscience and principle.
Unless and until there exists a political system where each person's individual consent is genuinely obtained, I reject the legitimacy of any claim to govern me.
I assert my natural rights: - To live freely and peacefully - To be governed only by mutual and voluntary agreement - To withdraw my consent when it is not respected This is a peaceful declaration of non-consent and a call for a return to true, voluntary governance by the people, for the people. Respectfully, [Your Name]
